The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), one of the federal government's National Institutes of Health, leads the nation in conducting and supporting research to improve oral health. Virginia Dental Association's Donated Dental Services (DDS) program was established in 1997. Through the DDS program, volunteer general dentists, specialists, and dental laboratories provide comprehensive dental treatment free of charge to those who cannot afford treatment due to financial limitations associated with advanced age, disability, and/or mental disabilities. Fees:  Set at a flat rate, fees are approximately 50% less than the fees at a private practice dental office.  Patients are requested to pay for treatment as services are rendered. If your carrier will not submit payment directly to the School of Dentistry, payment is expected when services are rendered and the insurance reimbursement will be sent directly to patient.
